Summer Boost: Keeping Young Minds Active

Impact: ~400 Students across 4 Elementary Schools

BEF’s Summer Boost awards ensure that learning doesn’t stop when the school year ends. By providing resources for at-home engagement and targeted interventions, Summer Boost students will return to the classroom in the fall ready to succeed.

  • Fir Grove: Enhancing literacy and numeracy with at-home reading and math activity kits.

  • Springville: Supporting a rigorous 4-week academic intervention program and at-home reading materials.

  • Montclair & Terra Linda: Providing high-quality at-home reading materials to prevent the “summer slide.”

After School: Additional Academic Support

Impact: Targeted academic intervention and STEM exploration

After-school programs provide a safe, structured environment for students to receive extra learning support beyond the school day.

  • Raleigh Hills Elementary: A dedicated program focused on empowering English Language Learners (ELL) through language acquisition and academic support.

  • Aloha Huber Park K-8: Providing essential academic intervention for elementary students who need extra time and coaching to meet grade-level standards.

  • Beaver Acres Elementary: Sparking curiosity through a school-wide After-School Science Club, making STEM accessible to the student body.

Special Projects & Innovation

BEF continues to invest in the tools and resources that are critical to enhancing the classroom experience.

  • Hazeldale Elementary Dual Language Library: Investing in bilingual literary resources to support Hazeldale’s Dual Language program, ensuring students have access to high-quality books in both English and Spanish.

  • Chehalem Elementary Library: Increasing text collections to expand non-fiction choices and redesigning their library space to make books impossible for students to ignore. (Generously supported by the Anne Kelly Ofstun Tubby Fund.)
  • BSD Tech Lending Library: Funding for the maintenance and repair of the district’s Tech Lending Library, keeping high quality tech equipment ready and accessible and available for students in all 34 elementary schools.

Beaverton eighth graders are diving into the world of renewable energy through a new hands-on science unit designed to bridge the gap between classroom concepts and real-world career paths. This project-based learning experience empowers students to explore the impacts of energy production while building the technical skills needed for Oregon’s growing clean energy workforce.

Transforming Middle Schoolers’ Success in Math

To ensure middle schoolers aren't left behind by the label "bad at math," BEF is transforming math intervention into a hands-on journey of discovery through interactive tools and targeted support to build lasting academic confidence.

Positive Early Results for After-School Academic Support

In the 2025-26 academic year, Beaverton Education Foundation is investing in after school academic support for English language learner students at 4 Beaverton School District Title I elementary schools. Each school is taking a slightly different approach, and the mid-year results are all pointing toward successful outcomes for these students.
