Beaverton's Choice Project

Phonics for First Graders at Nancy Ryles

Beaverton Education Association is pleased to donate $250 to this project through the Mike Osborne Memorial Award Fund!

Phonics instruction is most effective when it begins in kindergarten or first grade. When young learners are equipped with hands-on phonics tools like letter and sound tiles, dry-erase trays, and work mats for sound blending, they gain the keys needed to crack the reading code with enthusiasm and confidence.  These tools help ALL students but are particularly helpful for English Language Learners as well as students with special learning needs.  By donating to fund these vital classroom resources, you are directly empowering our students to bridge the gap between spoken sounds and written language, sparking a lifelong love for reading and opening the door to unlimited academic success for every child!
