Middle schoolers — here’s your chance to shine! BEF is partnering with the Beaverton Area Chamber of Commerce to bring the 2026 National Civics Bee to our community. 6th–8th graders will flex their civic knowledge, share their ideas for improving our community, and compete for recognition and prizes. Application deadline has been extended to February 17, 2026.
This opportunity is being offered through the 2026 National Civics Bee, a nonpartisan competition for students in grades 6–8. Students submit a 4-paragraph essay proposing a solution to improve their community. Top essays advance to a live regional quiz competition, with prizes at the regional, state, and national levels — including a $5,000 school donation for the state winner.
